Hillcrest Park & Splash Pad

Currently closed to the public.

Hillcrest Park in Carthage has a splash pad, 2 playgrounds, a picnic shelter, picnic tables, 1.5 mile walking trail, 2 volleyball courts, 18 hole disc golf course, four 300 foot baseball/softball fields with field house and concession stand. Baseball/Softball fields and picnic shelter are available for rental.

Pool Park & Splash Pad

Splash pad open 12-6pm daily.  Pool opening June 6th. Mon-Sat 12:30-6:30pm.  Limited to 33 swimmers at a time. If capacity is reached, swimmers will be limited to a 2 hr swim period. Waitlist is available. 

This facility in Southern Pines boasts a lighted basketball court, playground equipment,  a picnic shelter with grill, covered performance stage and a large open field great for games, plus lots of parking and a Greenway Trail!  The stage makes this a great gathering place for Community Events with music performances, youth events, outdoor movies and more.

Pinehurst Disc Golf

The Village of Pinehurst's disc golf course is located about 15 minutes outside of town at 861 Chicken Plant Road.  It is a very wooded course with varying elevation changes.

Pooch Park in the Pines

Located across the street from the Moore County Airport on Old NC 22, this 3 1/2 acre park is the county's first fully fenced-in dog park and includes a separate area for small dogs.  Members must have a pass to enter. For membership information, click the image to visit the Moore Humane website.

Weymouth Center

Open to the public to enjoy the grounds. Please respect social and physical  distancing rules. Not able to host private events at this time.

The Weymouth Center gardens and grounds are open free to the public, daily during daylight hours. Former estate of author and publisher James Boyd II, this 26 acre estate, includes extensive gardens, urban forest, and is the gateway to the oldest remaining longleaf pine forest - home of the oldest living longleaf pine tree.

The Healing Garden

Inspired by classical English design, The Healing Garden at Clara McLean House in Pinehurst, boasts traditional elements with whimsical touches.  Paths lead the visitor to garden rooms with seating for quiet reflection or to simply admire the view.  For younger visitors, the children’s garden offers fun and discovery and even some life-size chess and checker boards! The public is welcome to take a self-guided tour of the garden and is asked to sign the guest book in the lobby.

Weymouth Woods

Trails and restrooms at the park are open. The visitor center, classroom, and exhibits remain closed. 

Weymouth Woods in Southern Pines not only has amazing nature trails, but also a "Discovery Room" with things for kids to touch and explore, weekly events AND a Sandhills Museum.  They offer educational events on a weekly basis.  Check our Calendar to see what's happening this week!

 

They also have a 1-mile children's TRACK trail with self-guided brochures and signs that turn your visit into a fun and exciting outdoors experience.  To learn more, CLICK HERE.

So Pines Greenway System

The Southern Pines Greenway System boasts over 11 miles of walking/biking trails which include the  David R White, Longleaf, Forest Creek, Mill Creek and Nick's Creek trail systems.  Click the image for a larger view of the map.  CLICK HERE for more info about each trail system.  

The Landing

The Landing at Eagle's Nest Berry Farm in Jackson Springs is a place for kids to play and explore.  This recreational learning center is made out of natural and donated materials such as tires, a play kitchen, a swing set, large building blocks and much more. The Landing is open seasonally when the farm’s pick-your-own business is open.  Click above to visit their Facebook page.

Aberdeen Lake Park

Aberdeen Lake Park in Aberdeen offers a 2 -mile lake trail, fishing, boating (no gas engines), a train-themed playground, and a gazebo, picnic shelter and recreation center (each available for rental).

Lake Luke Marion

Lake Luke Marion in Carthage is a stocked lake with a pier, picnic tables and a 1/3 mile walking trail.  No swimming is allowed.

Sharpe Memorial Park

This park is located at 200 E. Maple Avenue in Downtown Aberdeen.  With plenty of playground equipment and a picnic area, this park is a great place to spend some time outdoors.

Located on Memorial Park Court in Southern Pines, this park definitely has something for everyone with its 16 competition style horseshoe courts, four lighted tennis courts, lighted basketball court, two lighted outdoor racquetball courts, two shuffleboard courts, sand volleyball court, playground equipment, picnic shelter, and baseball fields.

Sandhurst Park

Sandhurst Park is a 4-acre neighborhood park located off South Bethesda Road in Southern Pines. It has walking trails, playground equipment, a tot swing,  a rock climbing wall, a picnic shelter (see rates) with bathrooms and a grill, water fountains (even for pets), and open green space to play and have fun.

Milliken Park

Milliken Park in Robbins has a playground, a Born Learning Trail (pictured on bottom), tennis courts, basketball courts and a baseball field.  The park is located at 541 E Park Avenue.

The Storywalk

The Story Walk is up and running!

The Story Walk that wraps around the Southern Pines Public Library, is an innovative and interactive way for kids to enjoy a story and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s picture book are located on special display posts located around the library. Featured books change seasonally. Stop in the library before your walk to pick up a special toy to enjoy during your walk (while supplies last).

Wicker Park & Splash Pad

Rassie Wicker Park in Pinehurst offers an inclusive playground and a splash pad!  It also has 2 tennis courts, a soccer field, in-line hockey, paved walking trails, brick sidewalks, expanded trail system and concession stand/restroom facility.  Wicker Park is also home to the 33 acre Village Arboretum.

Reservoir Park Disc Golf

Check out this beautiful 18-hole disc golf course located at Reservoir Park in Southern Pines.   The course winds through the trees, following the edge of the lake.  No trees were removed in the making of this course, so players find it quite challenging and beautiful at the same time.  Click the image for a downloadable map.

Hillcrest Park in Carthage also has an 18-hole disc golf course. About half of the course is open and half is wooded.  The office (open M-F, 9am-5pm) has discs for rent and maps. 

Martin Dog Park

Martin Park is a partially-fenced, off leash Dog Park of more than 50 acres.  Wooded areas, open spaces with seating, nature trails and a creek make this a perfect place for canines to play and socialize with other dogs.

The park is located at 350 Commerce Avenue in Southern Pines (behind Wal-Mart).

Horticultural Gardens

Located at 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, Sandhills Horticultural Gardens (a part of Sandhills Community College) will keep you busy for hours as you stroll along the trails and admire the beautiful gardens and natural greenery. They are open to the public every day of the year from dawn to sunset and offer an educational adventure to people of all ages.

Walthour-Moss Foundation

Open from sun up to sun down. 

The Walthour-Moss Foundation is 4,000+ acres of unspoiled land right here in Moore County.  Here, the environment is preserved and exists as a sanctuary for wildlife and enjoyment for mankind.

The expansive trails are open for horseback riding and walking.  The best entrance is at the equestrian road at the end of May St/US 1 across from Hyland Hills.  There are usually horse trailers parked there.

Pinehurst Greenway

The Pinehurst Greenway winds for nearly 6 miles through the community of Pinehurst and its historic business district, meandering through Rassie Wicker Park, the Pinehurst Arboretum and all the way out Linden Road.  The trails are for pedestrian and bicycling access only.  There are several places for users to hop on the greenway system. Parking is available at Rassie Wicker and Cannon Parks.

Bear Creek Trail System

The Bear Creek Trail system in Robbins has over 8 miles of trails located along scenic Bear and Cabin Creeks. Map kiosks at intersections and the main trail heads provide info on different loop hikes, distances and difficulty. There are also disc golf and canoeing opportunities.

National Athletic Village

Outdoor trails and obstacle course are open.  Call 910-585-3212 to reserve a playtime before coming to the facility.

National Athletic Village has brought the sand and fun to Moore County.  Their newly-constructed beach brings you the best elements of a coastal getaway.  While you're there, enjoy the indoor/outdoor Beer Garden! And when you're ready for more check out their trail system, obstacle course, sports fields and Hunter Games attraction!  Drop-in's welcome daily.

Reservior Park

This 165-acre park in Southern Pines  is home to a 95-acre lake  offering fishing, boating (no motor boats), nature trails around the lake, picnic areas, grills and even an 18-hole disc golf course (see above)..

Colonial Heights Park

This fun park has a great playground, 2 ball fields, and a sand volleyball court.  It's located just off hwy. 5 in Aberdeen not far from US 1.

Rounds Park

This 4-acre park in Southern Pines offers play equipment, open space, a picnic shelter, restrooms, and a trail that connects to both the Reservoir Park and seven miles of greenway trails in the area. 

Downtown Park SP

Downtown Park in Southern Pines features playground equipment, four lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, an open field, and a large covered picnic shelter provide a day of fun and excitement.  This park is the site of many community events such as Movies in the Park, the annual fall “Autumnfest” and a seasonal Farmers Market.

Cannon Park

Cannon Park is a 15-acre facility with 4 restrooms, 2 baseball/softball fields, covered picnic shelter, walking trails, a small practice soccer field, and is home to Camelot Playground (pictured) and the Pinehurst Community Center The picnic shelter and ball fields may be reserved for a minimal fee.

Sandy Ramey Keith Park

The Sandy Ramey Keith Park located at 3600 US Hwy 1 in Vass, has two basketball courts, a tennis court, a playground, picnic shelter and ball field.  These facilities can be reserved for a fee.

Phillips Memorial Park

Phillips Memorial Park located at 145 Fayetteville St. in Cameron is 26 acres!  Enjoy walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic shelters.
