Sandhills Scarecrow Stroll

Location:  Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, 3245 Airport Rd, Pinehurst
Celebrate the fall season by strolling through the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens’ creative scarecrow collection. In continued celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, this year’s scarecrows will be patriotically themed as characters from the American Revolutionary Era. This event is free.

Southern Pines Autumnfest
When:  Saturday, October 3rd, 9:00am-4:30pm
Location:  Downtown Southern Pines Park

Head to Downtown Southern Pines for the 48th Annual Autumnfest. There will be lots of vendors, live music & entertainment, the annual 5k, youth sprint races, and fair food galore!

Pawtoberfest! - Oktoberfest with Paws

Location:  Red's Corner, Southern Pines

Join us for all things PAWsitive to celebrate the fun season of Oktoberfest! We will be partnering with RADAR: to have a festive, fun afternoon with vendors, photo ops, a dog-friendly beer-drinking competition and of course, a dog costume competition! It is going to be a way to continue celebrating the season of Oktoberfest in a PAWfict way!

Downtown Candy Crawl & Movie by the Lake

Explore participating downtown businesses from for delicious treats and special surprises. This sweet event is perfect for families, friends, and anyone who loves a good candy haul! After, head over to Aberdeen Lake Park for the 7pm showing of "Minions 3" at 7pm.​

Kids will have a blast at this event complete with food trucks, games, fun in the gym, trunk-or treating, and more!

Oktoberfest at James Creek

When:  Saturday, October 17th, 4:00pm-8:00pm  

Location:  James Creek Cider House, Cameron

James Creek Cider House is celebrating Oktoberfest with German-inspired cider, traditional food, live music, and festive fall fun. Guests can enjoy German favorites from Schnitzelhouse NC, live music by David Brown, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options. Come dressed in your best lederhosen, dirndl, or Bavarian-inspired outfit for a chance to win the Best Dressed competition!

Halloween Costume Party

When:  Friday, October 23rd, 3:30-4:30pm  

Location:  Southern Pines Public Library

Kids and families are invited to stop by the library for a Halloween Costume Party! There will be music, dancing, and Halloween fun before Downtown's BooFest at 5pm.

Downtown Southern Pines Trick-or-Treating and Boofest

When:  Friday, October 23rd, 5:00pm-7:30pm

Location:  Downtown Southern Pines

Ages 12 and under are invited to trick-or-treat at the local downtown businesses in Southern Pines at 5pm, then head to Downtown Park at 5:30pm for Halloween-themed games, crafts, activities, and best dog costume raffle from 7-7:30pm.  All children must be accompanied by a guardian.

Scarecrow Fest
When:  Saturday, October 24th, 10:00am-2:00pm

Location: Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, 3245 Airport Road, Pinehurst
Get into the Halloween spirit at the Scarecrow Fest (as part of the Sandhills Scarecrow Stroll) with a fun day of costumes, candy, and local vendors! Meet the scarecrow creators who will be handing out treats, check out their creations, shop local native plants and crafts, and enjoy a few delicious food trucks too. This festive community event is FREE for everyone!

Fall-O-Ween
When:  Saturday, October 24th, 11:00am- 2:00pm
Location:  Malcolm Blue Farm
Grab the kiddos and head down to Malcolm Blue Farm for fun carnival games, inflatables, pony rides, a climbing wall, and more! There will be food trucks and treat vendors on site. Costumes are encouraged. This event is for children ages 15 and under. Admission: $5 for ages 2-15, all others free.

Village of Pinehurst Oktoberfest
When:  Saturday, October 24th, 4:00pm-6:00pm: Kinderfest I 6:00pm–9:00pm: Oktoberfest
Location:  Tufts Memorial Park, Village of Pinehurst
Oktoberfest returns to Tufts Memorial Park! The evening kicks off with Kinderfest, a fun festival for children and families with music, crafts, a bubble artist and Halloween fun. Following Kinderfest, join traditional Oktoberfest activities featuring German music. Food and beverages will be available to purchase throughout the day. Picnic baskets are allowed, however, outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Village Haunted Trail
When:  Saturday, October 24th,  5:30pm-8:30pm
Location:  Field behind the Fire Rescue Department, Hardee Lane, Whispering Pines
Dress up and come see what the Village scared up for you…For the faint of heart, feel free to come by between 5:30pm and 6:30pm for a Family Friendly Trail experience or brave the scary trail from 6:30-8:30pm.  They will have Pita Perfect, The House of Odell & Luella, Wink and Nod, and Sweet Pines Funnel Cakes!

Cocktails and Costumes

When:  Saturday, October 24th,  5:00pm

Location:  The Fair Barn, Pinehurst

Cocktails & Costumes is a Halloween-themed fundraiser benefiting the Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation, supporting wounded, ill, and injured U.S. Special Operations families. The evening will feature dinner, drinks, dancing, raffles, a silent auction, and a costume contest, with tickets priced at $125 per attendee and proceeds supporting TFDSOF programs and services. Trick-or -Treat Trail

Location:  Weymouth Woods-Sandhills Nature Preserves
Bring the family out in costume and learn about the "not-so-spooky" things of Weymouth Woods on their 1/2 mile decorated trail. This free event includes popcorn and candy.

Outdoor Movie on the Village Green: Hocus Pocus

Location:  James W Tufts Memorial Park. in the Village of Pinehurst

Settle in under the stars and enjoy a Halloween favorite in the heart of the Village. Admission is free, so bring your family and friends, your lawn chairs and blankets, and make a night of it!

Monster Mash Dash 5k and Fun Run

When:  Saturday, October 31st, 8:30am

Location:  Cannon Park, Pinehurst

Come out for a spooktacular course through the beautiful Village of Pinehurst on October 31! This family friendly event is a great way to start your celebration and support Special Olympics Moore County as you run, walk, or roll your way to the finish line. Costumes are encouraged and all ages are welcome. Participants will receive a custom race shirt and a post-race treat bag.

Halloween is coming to the orchard! Join us at James Creek Cider House on Saturday, October 31 for a full day of family-friendly Halloween fun, ending with our Trunk or Treat from 6–8pm! Skip the neighborhood shuffle and bring the whole family to James Creek for an easy, fun way to celebrate Halloween. We’ll have activities for the kids, plenty for the adults, live music, food, and a few spooky surprises waiting around the orchard. 👻
