Another wonderful thing about living in Moore County is that there are so many fantastic destinations to go to within a short drive!  Here's a list of some places to check off your list:

Airborne & Special Operations Museum

Aloha Safari Park

​The Aloha Safari Rescue Park is home to over 400 rescued animals. They take in animals that were previously injured, abandoned, abused, neglected, or were unable to be cared for by their previous owners and give them a forever home. 

Cape Fear Botanical Garden

Cape Fear Botanical Garden is a natural beauty situated on an impressive 80 acres nestled between the Cape Fear River and Cross Creek. The Garden offers engaging cultural events to inspire and excite, educational activities to energize, and peaceful spots to refresh. Visitors of all ages are welcome.

Cape Fear River Adventures

Cape Fear River Adventures offers river tubing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle board rentals and whitewater kayaking* (*whitewater kayaking only at higher river levels), plus SUP yoga, sunset paddles, and a fantastic time for all!

Carowinds

There’s so much to do and explore in this 398-acre amusement park including amazing Roller Coasters, thrill rides, the Camp Snoopy kids area, Dinosaurs Alive and seasonal events and entertainment!  Admission to their awesome water park, Carolina Harbor, is included with admission.

Carolina Tiger Rescue

Carolina Tiger Rescue provides lifelong sanctuary to more than 50 wildcats and offers educational tours and field trips to thousands of visitors each year at their 55 acre facility.  They are home to ten species of animals, including tigers, lions, cougars, and kinkajous. 

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Greensboro Science Center

House in the Horseshoe

Visit this historic home in a horseshoe bend of the Deep River in northern Moore County. Built around 1772 by Phillip Alston and sometimes known as the Alston House, its walls bear numerous scars and bullet holes sustained during a Revolutionary War skirmish.

Kersey Valley

Numerous attractions make up Kersey Valley and they offer something for everyone!  The zip line is aviation-themed and one of the largest closed-course zip lines in the country.  Try your skills at outdoor laser tag, the high ropes course, the room escape game, and so much more!

Marbles Kids Museum

Morehead Planetarium & Science Center

Morehead's programs include classes for adults and children, special courses for teachers, summer camps for children, after-school programs, memberships, public viewings of astronomical events and public lectures.

Museum of Life and Science

The Museum of Life and Science is one of North Carolina’s top family destinations.  With a two-story interactive science center, one of the largest butterfly houses on the East Coast, over 60 species of live animals, and more, every visit is a new adventure.

NC Transportation Museum

The NC Transportation Museum is located on the site of what was once Southern Railway Company's largest steam locomotive repair facility.  The museum features an authentic train depot, antique automobiles, and a 37-bay Roundhouse that includes 25 locomotives, dozens of rail cars and other exhibit areas.

North Carolina Zoo

The NC Zoo is seated on a 2,200-acre tract of land in the Uwharrie Mountains. Approximately 500 acres of this property have been developed into the largest "natural habitat" zoo in the United States. The animals are given enclosures that mimic their natural habitats to include trees, ponds, rocks, grass and dirt. 

Putt-Putt Fun Center

For the ultimate family fun in Fayetteville, Putt-Putt Fun Center invites all people to enjoy everything the Fun Center has to offer.  Activities include putt-putt golf, Lazer Zone laser tag, Race Zone go-karts, Spin Zone bumper cars and Wet Zone bumper boats.

Raven Rock State Park

The Cape Fear River is a frequent hiking destination for visitors entering Raven Rock State Park.  Whether it’s Lanier Falls, the Fish Traps rapids or the massive Raven Rock, Raven Rock State Park is an ageless landmark for river travelers.  There are also many trails that visitors can travel by foot, bike or horse.

The Climbing Place Fayetteville

The Climbing Place has approx. 18,000 square feet of climbing surface and stores over 40,000 climbing holds so there is never a shortage.  They have 60 top rope stations, a massive overhand and a huge bouldering area.

Town Creek Indian Mound

Town Creek, situated on Little River (a tributary of the Great Pee Dee in central North Carolina), has been the focus of a consistent program of archaeological research under one director for more than half a century.  The people who lived at the Town Creek site during its heyday have been referred to as the "Pee Dee Indians."  

U.S. National Whitewater Center

The U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) has it all!  Activities include whitewater rafting, ziplines, climbing walls, ropes courses, kayaking, mountain biking and much more.

Wet 'n Wild Emerald Point

Zipquest
