Shawn and Beck Dooley love CrossFit! In fact, they love it so much that they have made a business out of it! They are the owners of CrossFit 611 in Southern Pines. You’ve probably seen it on US 1 with their enthusiastic members sometimes working out in the parking lot or running up and down the sidewalk. They love people and their passion to help others is what keeps them going each day. Shawn and Becky have both enjoyed fitness and sports since they were young adults, but CrossFit was their common ground. They purchased an existing CrossFit gym and turned it into their own. It has given them a new bond within their marriage along with the opportunity to share something they love with their community.
CrossFit 611 is a place where athletes can reap the benefits of fitness and community in a non-judgmental, welcoming environment. There is a huge misconception that you need to be fit before starting CrossFit and that couldn’t be further from the truth. CrossFit is infinitely scalable, and Shawn, Becky and their coaches will meet you where you are in your fitness journey. The best part? It’s FUN!
The large coaching staff at CrossFit 611 comes from a variety of different backgrounds. Shawn was a USAF linguist and now works in web development. Becky’s background is in nursing. The rest of the coaches consist of teachers, a fireman, a sheriff, an army chaplain, active-duty and prior military members, stay-at-home moms, an engineer, a golf pro, a physical therapist and a massage therapist! They all have varying sports backgrounds that contribute to their success in crossfit which, in turn, is passed on to their members. And if you’re wondering where the name came from, it’s a Bible verse - Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God.” At CrossFit 611, they not only put on the armor of God, but they also arm themselves with physical and mental health, community, and family strength.
